How to take care of yourself

The sun is covered by the moon comes between the sun and earth. The energy of the new moon will be amplified and feel stronger due to the eclipse. Depending on where your natal chart (birth chart) is affected by the event will depend on intensity and what may unfold in your life.

With a new moon/solar eclipse it is a time to go inward and do some internal soul searching and clearing out on a physical, emotional and mental level.

The earth stands between the moon and sun causing the lunar eclipse on a full moon. A full moon energy always feels strong and strange, the saying the 'lunatics' come out to play is derived from the word 'Luna' meaning moon in Spainish.
Again how and where you are affected depends on where in your natal chart the event falls.

A full moon - eclipse is certainly a time of some huge letting go, full moon energy is always about shedding and letting go of energy that has built up since the new moon phase.

Eclipses are huge swathes of energy that can bombard and push/pull us around. They can bring with them life changing events or we can sail through them watching others fall apart around us.

All depends on what sign/house the eclipse is in and where it falls in your natal chart.

Regardless of all that it is so important to have in place some self-care practices that will help you see this period through in a more grounded and connected way.

Best Practices

Stay grounded -  it's good to do a daily walk in nature, if no nature close by just go for a walk by yourself and do so in a mediative way.
 
Hydrate yourself - drink plenty of water and fluids such as herbal teas that can help detox what is arising as well as nourish the body.
 
Healthy diet - try as best as you can to balance out the diet and eat as healthy as you can, make meal times a mediation in nourishment and fulfilment.
 
Take time out - for yourself, if the walk isn't that time out then try to do at least 5 to 10mins of something for yourself.
 
Epsom Salt baths - are an amazing way to cleanse, relax and nourish the mind and body, adding a drop of Lavender essential oil (check to see if you have any allergies first) will create a more relaxing feeling and help sleep better.
 
Sleep - can be hard to get in a full moon/eclipse or if you are transitioning, it's essential and body does a lot of repair healing, so try and have a ritual/routine to get to sleep at a regular time.
 
Mediation - the essential tool for life everyday day in every way. It takes practice, practice and more practice yet it is so powerful that no words can give you an entire explanation or experience. It will help you feel calmer and more connected.
Using mediation tools or going to classes is a great way to get started!
 
Massage - Gets the stagnant energy moving and helps all the muscles of the body relax and tension to seep out. It's an hour or more of you not having to do anything and you receiving some care and attention. Also helps many functions of the body as well as act as a restorative aid.
 
Support - If you're really feeling the intensity of the energies being stirred in your life its really important to have people that you can speak with about what is happening. Having a support network of people who will listen, not judge and hold space for you is vital at all times, particularly when you are feeling agitated or out of sorts. You can have this network as a part of your friends circle or find alternative help through practitioners.

Eclipses can bring strong changes and they can unfold many unforseen events that can have us change the course of our life, they can also just meander by quietly and we could just be the observers in the unfolding of other peoples lives.

Either way knowing how to ground and understand your own energy is important.

Knowing where the eclipse/moon is falling in your natal chart will give you more information on the area of life that will be highlighted in the given cycle.

Know that eclipses come in pairs and with each pair the energy can extend for up to 6 months at a time, generally the over all start to finish phases affecting us can be between 6 to 12mths, with threads that can go on longer depending on what is unfolding in your life.

Full moon eclipses can highlight relationships that are no longer acceptable or working, the spotlight is fully onto them.

Suffice it to say that changes are not negotiable, as the shifting will keep niggling away till some attention is paid to the area needing attention

Suffice it to say that it is a time of change and change brings with it a lot of unsettling energy and often fear. Taking time to review what is fearful and what it is that feels like change can help you understand better what is trying to shift.

Eclipse/Moon cycles bring with them endings and beginnings and how we manage them are entirely dependant on how empowered we are feeling and to what depth we wish to see.

Take notice of repeat words, conversations and signs that keep flashing up, someone is trying to tell you something, that someone is the universe or your own heart!

Don't be reactive, allow information to flow in and make choices and decisions when you feel grounded and more present.

Get to know your natal (birth) chart a bit better, or find someone who knows how to interpret it. Knowing where the energy is most potent helps you make the most of these times.

Quite often major and minor health aspects can flare up around these times, it usally is a sign saying slow down and pay attention to your body because it needs it and its worth it!


The intensity and change of these times is all dependant on how your own birth chart is affected, how much you feel is down to how much an area of life needs changing and how much you need to do will be dependant on how much you are willing to do.

This is a souls journey to its highest calling and science will not have all the answers, the alchemy of events is always ripe and potent for inner and outer growth.
